About Shipping….
SHIPPING: While we charge UPS flat rates, we will usually refund any excess shipping costs to our customer if it is more than a few dollars’ difference. The online flat rate quoted is simply an estimate. Usually, we wind up paying the difference, as the estimate is on the lower end. As a business, we receive a minor discount from the retail UPS shipping rates, but not a deep discount, like a large corporation would enjoy. Shipping rates are based upon shipping volumes.
It is never our intention to profit from inflated shipping fees, but neither can we afford to offer “free” shipping. Of course, shipping is never really free. If you compare Amazon pricing versus other sites, Amazon charges more to make up for the “free” shipping. We prefer to price our products reasonably instead of playing games with the pricing.
Also, we use recycled materials (both pre-and post- shipping); we try to re-use those ubiquitous Amazon boxes, air pillows, and Kraft paper as much as possible. If packing peanuts are used, they are biodegradable and starch-based, NEVER styrofoam. Bella Vista pays to offset carbon emissions from every delivery. We are passionate about olive oil, but also about saving our environment.
We typically ship once a week. We try not to have oil orders sit in a warehouse or on a truck over the weekend, so if it looks likely to be the case, we will hold the order to ship earlier in the next week to arrive by Saturday. The website should automatically send an email notification when a shipping label is printed, and tracking info is available to follow your order as it makes its way to you.
We will ship UPS or USPS, whichever is less expensive. We will ship to AK and HI if the order will fit into a UPS flat-rate box. Otherwise, UPS shipping costs are ridiculously expensive.
